How Walk or RUn & Talk Therapy can help
How Walk or Run & Talk works
We will have our initial few meetings over video to establish rapport, determine eligibility for Walk or Run & Talk, and create a treatment plan. When we are ready for Walk or Run & Talk, we meet at an agreed upon public space and have our regular therapy session while on the move.
01
What to expect
While we will be engaging in physical activity during the session, exercise is not the goal of our session. I allow you to set the pace. (For running sessions, we will need to go at a slow, conversational pace — no hill sprints). We can choose to stop and sit at any point. Prior to meeting, we will also have explicit conversations about how we will protect your privacy and confidentiality during session.
02
How it can help you
Many individuals find that moving while talking can help facilitate deeper emotional processing. Some people also find they open up better when they are talking with someone side-by-side versus face-to-face. There are many other therapeutic benefits of connecting with nature and spending time in the outdoors.
